History
Fyvie Castle was once a royal stronghold, one of a chain of fortresses throughout medieval Scotland. The five towers are traditionally associated with the five successive families that lived there. The oldest part dates from the 13th century.

Blacksmithing
Stan Smart,
a blacksmith from Colvie, was responsible for recreating
the ornate iron lights that illuminate the rear entrance
at Fyvie Castle. The National Trust for Scotland commissioned
Stan to replicate the original lights, which had been previously
removed..
